Types of Council Meetings
Regular Afternoon Council Meeting
The meeting usually includes staff information reports, committee minutes, and correspondence to Council. Meetings commence at 3:00pm Monday. See the Council Calendar for the next scheduled meeting.
Regular Evening Council Meeting
The most formal setting for Council meetings where members discuss and vote on issues before the municipality. Proceedings publicly address matters of business, bylaws, policy, and the general affairs of local governance. Meetings commence 7:00pm Monday. Confidential Meetings of Council
Council meets to the exclusion of the public, as allowed by law. Topics are generally related to issues relating to legal matters and land and labour issues. Meetings occur after the Monday 3:00pm opening of the Regular Afternoon Council meeting.
Regular Council - Public Hearings
A Public Hearing is held, as deemed necessary, to allow the public to make representation on matters pertaining to the following:
- bylaw
- permit application
- rezoning application
- Official Community Plan amendment
- heritage designation
- development permit
- development variance permit

Web streaming occurs for all Regular Afternoon Council Meetings and Regular Evening Council meetings that take place at:

Archived meeting videos are posted and available by 4:00pm the day after the live broadcast date.

Web Streaming System Requirements
To view a Council web stream, you need Windows Media Player Version 9 or later. Check your system for compatibility or download the latest free player from Microsoft by clicking below.
Note: If you are viewing the live Council meeting and your screen saver activates, your web stream may stop. Close Windows Media Player and start the web stream again. To prevent this, move your mouse every few minutes to keep your screen saver from activating.

If you encounter problems viewing the web stream, refer to the technical support guidelines provided by our web stream partner, INSINC.
Televised Council Meetings
The following 201 meetings will be televised by Shaw Cable, Channel 4:
- January 23
- February 27
- March 26
- June 25
- July 23
- October 22
- November 26
- December 10
Meetings are broadcast on a tape delay basis. The meetings will be broadcast at 10:00pm following the meeting or immediately following City of Surrey Council meeting if their meeting goes beyond 10:00pm. The Saturday re-broadcast is at 12:00pm.
