Message from Mayor

What does quality of life mean to you? In the Township of Langley, it means being able to live in a place that provides a unique mix of urban amenities and the great outdoors, where there is one job for every resident in the labour force, and the past and the environment are respected as we grow and build towards the future.

Centrally located within British Columbia’s Lower Mainland and made up of six distinct communities, the Township of Langley is a place unlike any other. While the vibrant hubs of Aldergrove, Brookswood/Fernridge, Fort Langley, Murrayville, Walnut Grove, and Willoughby/Willowbrook provide a variety of housing, shopping, recreation, employment, and entertainment options, the surrounding rural landscape boasts many beautiful parks, trails, and green spaces.

With 75% of our municipality located in the Agricultural Land Reserve, half of the farms in Metro Vancouver can be found the Township of Langley. We are also home to one of region’s largest retail centres and the Langley Events Centre, an exceptional place for sports, recreation, and entertainment. Agri-tourism destinations, golf courses, wineries, theatres, museums, recreation centres, and pools give the Township’s 110,000 residents, visitors, and tourists plenty to see and do, while a healthy commercial climate ensures that our local economy thrives.

With all the modern conveniences of a city and fresh air and scenery only minutes away, more and more people are choosing to live and work in the Township of Langley. As our community grows and continues to be an enviable residential and business destination, we will continue to honour our history. Known as “The Birthplace of BC,” it was here in Fort Langley that Sir James Douglas made the proclamation that brought the crown colony of British Columbia into being on November 19, 1858.

With so much to experience and explore, Langley Township’s website was designed with you, the user, in mind. Whether you are a resident, a visitor, or someone looking to do business in our community, we encourage you to explore this site and learn about all that we have to offer.

On behalf of Township of Langley Council, welcome to tol.ca and we hope to see you soon in person!
