The Township of Langley Field Status Report is updated every Friday but is subject to change without notice if required for changing weather conditions. It is the responsibility of the user to monitor this site for current field status.
The Township of Langley is committed to maintaining playing fields to the highest standards. DISCRETION status will be utilized for as long as the Manager of Park Operations at the Township of Langley sees that good field management decisions are being made by users. Thank you for your cooperation.
DISCRETION status indicates that the sports field is OPEN under the condition that if weather conditions deteriorate and there is potential for the field to become unsafe or damaged then it will promptly be designated as CLOSED by users.
Fields with DISCRETION status shall be inspected two hours prior to game time by the coach of the home team. The home team coach can designate a field as OPEN as long as none of the following exists anywhere on the field:
- standing water or puddles (ground is saturated "like a sponge")
- muddy areas
- frost or frozen ground
If the home team coach designates the field as CLOSED, it is their responsibility to notify the visiting team coach and their association. It is then up to the association to inform the coaches/teams who are scheduled to play later that day of the field’s status. The association of the home team must notify the Township of Langley of the field closure by calling the Parks employee on call at 604-534-3496.
A CLOSED status indicates a field is unavailable for play.
Any rental group and/or individual found to have played on a field that is officially closed may forfeit the right to play for the remainder of the season. There will also be a fine issued to the Association.
