In 2009, the 7th Annual Adopt-a-Program Volunteer Appreciation Event held on June 6 in Aldergrove was a fantastic event! The rain held off and about 70 program participants enjoyed the BBQ and fun activities. Thanks to the Bertrand Creek Enhancement Society for hosting the BBQ!

The cost is $30 and includes the workshop, 1/2 pound of red wiggler worms, worm composter, digger, and resource materials. This is a subsidized price for Township residents only.

Worm Composting Garden Party
Do you like parties? Do you want to learn about worm composting in the comfort of your own home? If you answered yes to these two questions, then you should host a Worm Composting Garden Party! As a host, your role is to provide a party space and invite 8 or more friends (Township residents) who are interested in worm composting. The Township will bring the workshop to you, along with fun, excitement, a gift for the host, and all the necessary workshop materials.

WASTE REDUCTION WEEK - OCTOBER 18 TO 24, 2010

2010 is Canada's 11th annual Waste Reduction Week (WRW). Organized by a coalition of non-government organizations across Canada, WRW encourages citizens to learn how to reduce waste in daily life: at home, at work, at school, at play, when shopping, and in the community. Attend an event or organize your own to celebrate Waste Reduction Week in Canada!

Classroom Composting 101
Grades K to 7, 1 - 1.5 hours (grade dependent)
With worms at work, discover how composting reduces the amount of garbage we throw out. Investigate worm anatomy and learn how red wiggler worms are designed to process organic waste. Build and keep a classroom compost bin and discuss how to create the ideal worm habitat.
*8 free workshops will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

COMMUNITY HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DROP-OFF DAYS
Rid yourself and family of accumulated household hazardous waste (HHW)! Drop-off your HHW at our weekend event to properly dispose of these materials that are harmful to the environment. Learn about alternatives to HHW products and how you can dispose of them safely and properly throughout the year.
