It's easy to grow a beautiful and natural lawn and garden without the use of pesticides
Grow Healthy Grow Smart is a pilot program for 2010 that aims to reduce the non-essential or cosmetic use of pesticides in the Township of Langley by promoting natural lawns and gardens and encouraging residents to consider alternatives to pesticides. The pilot program is an initiative of the Township of Langley and Langley Environmental Partners Society (LEPS).
Components of the pilot program are:
- a Grow Healthy Grow Smart website and guidebook that promotes natural lawns and gardens that are chemical free
- delivery of four workshops for Township residents to learn about specific aspects of maintaining natural lawns and gardens without the use of cosmetic pesticides
- summertime outreach at community events in Langley, including a campaign that asks residents to commit to learning about alternatives to cosmetic pesticides

What's Next?
Over the coming months, more detailed information will be added to this website about the background to the pilot program and natural lawn and garden care techniques. The Grow Healthy Grow Smart guidebook will be released and made available through community events and Township facilities. Finally, the website will be regularly updated to inform residents about presence at community events. |
