Freshet Update – May 22, 2018

Update May 22:  Township staff continue with daily patrols of our dykes as the Fraser River Freshet continues.  The Evacuation Alert is still in effect for properties in the unprotected areas of the Township as the Mission Gauge held steady with readings under 6.0 metres over the Victoria Day long weekend.

Update May 18: The small viewing deck located in Marina Park at the end of Church Street is closed until further notice. The Fort to Fort Trail closure has been extended from the Salmon River Dyke Station to the entrance off Allard Crescent.

Update May 18:  Provincial support may be available for livestock relocation for some farm businesses affected by an evacuation alert.  Visit Emergency Management British Columbia for details, following the link to Operations and Section 2.01 Provincial Support for Livestock Relocation During an Emergency

Update May 15: At approximately 9:00am on May 15, the Mission Gauge reached 5.5 metres. As a result, an Evacuation Alert has been issued by the Township of Langley for the unprotected flood plain areas of Northwest Langley and Glen Valley, as well as Brae Island and McMillan Island.
