Energy savings don’t have to stop with your washer and fridge. Purchasing a green home can save money on your utility bills too. Green homes are healthier and more comfortable, with less drafts, cleaner air, and better temperature management.
These benefits can result in an increased resale value, less time on the market, and appeal to a wider range of buyers – all important factors when putting your home on the market! To learn more about buying and selling green, click on the below headings.
The Township is making it easier for you to find an energy efficient home.
Shop wisely for your new home. Look for an EnerGuide rating to help you buy green. Homes built or renovated to be energy efficient through successful completion of the Township’s Green Building Rebate Program are readily visible throughout the community to consumers, and establish instant recognition and credibility as being energy efficient.
Who's Building Green?
The Township has partnered with Metro Vancouver to promote their voluntary energy label disclosure program. When you sign up for the Green Building Rebate Program, you’ll also have the opportunity to sign up for Metro Vancouver’s RateOurHome.ca where you can:

The program profiles energy efficient homes and the name of the builder on a searchable Home Energy Map. If your home already has a v.15 EnerGuide rating, share it on the RateOurHome.ca map.
Geosource, our online web mapping application, is a great place to find green homes in the Township. Visit tol.ca/geosource to see where the greenest homes in your neighbourhood are.

Green homes can save on utility bills and increase resale value.
In a real estate market where consumer choice is vast, energy efficient homes reach out and appeal to a wider marketplace demographic of consumers that value the benefits of a comfortable home with a reduced and more responsible level of energy consumption.
Stand Out
More buyers are looking for the EnerGuide rating. In 2014, the Township commissioned Ipsos Reid to conduct a local public opinion survey regarding energy efficient homes. The survey sample includes only those who are likely to consider buying a home in the Fraser Valley in the next 5 years. Here are some key takeaways from the survey:
