As of July 27, 2021, building permit applications may be impacted by changes to the Tree Protection Bylaw 2019, No. 5478 adopted by Township of Langley Council.
You must familiarize yourself with the new regulations regarding tree protection and permits for tree removal/cutting prior to proceeding with your building permit submission and drawings. Before beginning construction drawings for your proposed project, or otherwise submitting a building permit submission, you must also ensure that the building designer, architect or other professionals that you have engaged have reviewed and considered the new regulations regarding tree protection, including how these may impact your building permit submission.
Note that any building application where the Tree Protection Bylaw is applicable will need to be reviewed and accepted by the Urban Forestry Department before any building permit can be issued. If you have any questions regarding the Tree Protection Bylaw and your building permit application, please contact Urban Forestry at the Township Engineering Department.
You are solely responsible for ensuring compliance of your building permit submission with the Tree Protection Bylaw. A failure to review the Tree Protection Bylaw and ensure that the drawings submitted for building permit are in compliance with the Tree Protection Bylaw, may result in a rejection of your building permit submission, a substantial delay in building permit issuance, or otherwise result in a resubmission of the building permit drawings being required to comply with the Tree Protection Bylaw.
