Dog Licences

Permanent dog tags coming for 2021!

Did you hear about the change to dog licence renewals? When renewing your dog licence for 2021, you will receive a new high quality metal tag in the mail. This will be your permanent dog tag to be used year after year.

Why the change and what are the benefits?

Convenience for owners who will no longer need to visit a Township facility for a new dog tag or wait for a licence to arrive in the mail each year. After receiving the renewal letter in the mail you can simply pay online and your licence number remains the same.

          •    New permanent tags are of better quality, comprised of 0.047 gauge stainless steel with a lifespan
of 7-10 years. After this time the Township will replace it free of charge as long as your account is
               up to date.
          •    Permanent tags align with Township zero-waste goals, significantly cutting down on the number of
tags tossed in the garbage or recycled annually.

Why licence my dog at all?

In Langley, all dogs are required to be licensed annually. Not only are licences and accompanying tags a great form of reuniting dogs with their owners, licensing fees provide funding to care for 1400+ animals annually at the LAPS shelter, many of whom are in the process of finding a forever home.

We hope you agree this is a positive change for the dog licence renewal program. If you have further questions, please contact LAPS at info@lapsbc.ca or 604-857-5055, and visit lapsbc.ca to renew now!

All dogs living in the Township of Langley must have a dog licence. The annual licensing period is January 1 - December 31.
