  • Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification
  • LSS National Lifeguard - Pool Option
  • Minimum age - 16 years
  • Grade 10 Completion
  • Related instructional experience

Regular Part-Time Employees - RPT


Regular Full-Time Employees - RFT

  • Work independently doing a combination of operational, technical, and building service work.  
  • Provide maintenance for a variety of swimming pool equipment.  
  • Keep appropriate work records.
  • Maintain effective relationships with staff, patrons, and user groups
  • Grade 12 completion 
  • Related technical training in operation and maintenance of pool and building equipment

  • Provide information to the public.
  • Oversee patron conduct during Public Skate or Public Swim to ensure safety.
  • Maintain ticket and cash control.
  • Set-up and take down duties for events or activities.
  • Prepare and sell food and beverage items (some positions).
  • Grade 10 Completion
  • Related experience in an arena or aquatic environment.
  • Ability to skate or swim proficiently
  • Food Safe Level 1 (some positions)

  • Emergency or Standard First Aid 
  • CPR certification
  • Bronze Cross (Lifesaving Society)
  • Red Cross Assistant Water Safety Instructor (AWSI) and/or Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
  • Grade 10 Completion
  • HIGH FIVE Training 
  • Sports Coaching or Early Childhood Education Certification
  • Related instructional experience in a recreational environment

  • Provide leadership and instruction for a variety of aquatics programs to participants of all ages.
  • Create lesson plans to organize, lead, participate in, and independently instruct programs.  
  • Perform maintenance and lifeguarding duties, including ensuring the safety and supervision of patrons utilizing the aquatic facility.  
  • Standard First Aid 
  • CPR C/AED certification
  • Red Cross Water Safety Instructor's Certification
  • LSS National Lifeguard - Pool Option
  • LSS National Lifeguard Waterpark Option
  • Minimum  age - 17 years
  • Grade 10 Completion
  • Pool Operator course
  • Lifesaving Society Instructor (LSI)
  • Related instructional and/or lifeguarding experience in an aquatics environment

  • Assist with the supervision and coordination of part-time aquatic staff at an indoor or outdoor aquatic facility.
  • Assist with aquatic program development implementation and evaluation.
  • Act as Shift Supervisor over lifeguard and instructors, ensuring employees adhere to established schedules, procedures, and standards.
  • Standard First Aid 
  • Occupational First Aid (OFA) - Level 1
  • CPR C/AED certification
  • Red Cross Water Safety Instructor's Certification
  • LSS National Lifeguard - Pool Option
  • LSS National Lifeguard Waterpark Option
  • Grade 12 Completion
  • Pool Operator course 
  • Lifesaving Society Instructor (LSI)  
  • Supervisory and/or leadership training 
  • Two years equivalent full time related aquatic experience
