Board of Variance

The Board of Variance is a requirement of the Local Government Act. This quasi-judicial board hears appeals from property owners who allege that compliance with aspects of the Township Zoning would cause hardship in relation to the siting, dimensions, or size of a building / structure. Upon hearing the facts from the property owners, the Board weighs the information and makes a decision on the appeal. Members of the Board require an interest in the Township and a general understanding of construction industry practices.
