Protecting Yourself

Whether at work, home, or out in the community, health authorities continue to recommend following the same procedures as recommended during cold and flu season, including:

  • Stay at home as much as possible and comply with closures and government orders outlined here.
  • If you must go out, follow social distancing guidelines  – stay 2 metres apart from other people and avoid touching public surfaces.
  • Regularly and thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds - this is the single most effective way of reducing infection spread;
  • Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if hand-washing is not available;
  • Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, shield coughs and sneezes with a tissue, elbow, or shoulder but not bare hands. Dispose of any tissues used as soon as possible and wash your hands afterwards;
  • Avoid touching your face, mouth, eyes, and nose with your hands;
  • Avoid others who are unwell; and
  • Stay home when you are sick.
