Workshop location: 6951 204 Street, Langley, BC (townhouse project site).
Learn about high-performance, low carbon, mechanical systems and appliances, including heat pumps, heat pump domestic hot water heaters, heat recovery ventilators, and considerations when designing for and installing these systems through a case study of a Step 5 of the BC Energy Step Code, EL-4 of the Zero Carbon Step Code, and CHBA Net Zero Energy-Ready Carbon home townhome in the Cascadia project.
Attendees will also learn how mechanical systems selection can greatly impact compliance with Upper Steps of the BC Energy Step Code and Zero Carbon Step Code,
This workshop is intended for builders, Energy Advisors, design professionals, HVAC contractors, and HVAC trades who have a stake in implementing the BC Energy Step Code. It will include lessons learned from the project, and a tour of the home mid-construction. A planned mid-construction air tightness test will not be performed. An educational video of a blower door test will be available for all participants to view.
