Yorkson Community Park

Overview

Township of Langley Council has approved $20.5 million for major upgrades and additions to Yorkson Community Park North. The funding will provide for the construction of a spray park, playground, picnic area, parking lot, washroom facilities, associated landscape and pedestrian areas, a synthetic turf field and warm-up area, and a 75-stall parking lot with drop-off lane and related works at 84th Avenue, all forming part of Yorkson Community Park North.

There are also exciting developments coming to Yorkson Community Park South. There are several proposed enhancements to Yorkson Community Park South, designed to make visits more enjoyable and accessible including:

  • new north-south access lane connecting 80 Avenue to 82 Avenue
  • approximately 100 paved parking stalls for easier access
  • serviced park washrooms for users' convenience
  • plaza and picnic area for gatherings and relaxation
  • nature play children’s playground to spark imagination
  • oval fields with perimeter pathway for walking and running

Both projects are part of broader enhancements for the Willoughby community including a proposed new Willoughby Community Centre - read more about that here.

June 2024

  • Parking lot construction is underway and will bring more parking spaces to help additional community members enjoy this park space.

Background

The population of the Willoughby Community, and the Yorkson area in particular, continues to grow and these upgrades and additions will provide the amenities to meet the needs and demands of the numerous sports clubs, groups and individuals who use the park.

“Completing Yorkson Community Park is long overdue, and I am pleased that Council is moving forward with the entire upgrade in one project rather than continuing to phase it, said Mayor Eric Woodward. Our residents deserve high-quality amenities, and these investments save money in the long-term and ensure the community has a completed park sooner.”
