Official Community Plan Update

Overview

In response to new provincial housing legislation introduced in BC in 2023 and 2024, the Township is updating the Official Community Plan (OCP).

The OCP update will focus on:

• greater housing options including updating community and neighbourhood plans to allow for more diverse housing options, such as Small-Scale Multi-Unit Housing, to meet housing goals
• transit-oriented development including connecting new transit routes with walkable, livable communities, especially in Willoughby
• climate action including improving resilience to natural hazards, extreme weather events, and climate change

Our planning process will be guided by the following inputs:

• research and data including growth forecasts and other relevant studies
• technical expertise including Insights from planners and technical teams
• community feedback from residents, businesses, and stakeholders

Formal consideration of the updated OCP is subject to a bylaw process including a public hearing and adoption by Council.

Public engagement opportunities

• Location: Murrayville Community Hall, 21667 - 48 Avenue (moved from George Preston Recreation Centre)
