Smith Reservoir Park
Provide your feedback on the proposed park design. Find a link to the feedback form below the background information and images on this page.
Overview
The Township of Langley has collaborated with Metro Vancouver on plans to transform the roof deck and surrounding landscape of the new water distribution reservoir in the Smith neighbourhood of Willoughby, into public open space.
This new park at 20400 73A Avenue will provide unique opportunities for passive recreation and social connection within our growing community. The Township of Langley is seeking your feedback on the proposed design, which envisions the space as a vibrant social recreation venue
Background
Completed in 2022, and operated by Metro Vancouver, the Jericho Reservoir is a 20.6 ML above ground dual cell drinking water reservoir and control chamber in the Smith Neighbourhood of Willoughby. As it is located on Township land, the municipality ensured the building was designed to carry the weight of public amenities for gatherings.
As the Smith neighbourhood continues to grow, the Township intends to advance the programming and design of public amenities for the roof of the building.
Smith Reservoir Park design concept
The new reservoir roof presents an opportunity to provide a truly unique social recreation space. The Township is proposing an exciting mix of amenities and game opportunities not found in other public spaces in the region.
Food and beverage options, mini golf, cornhole, a playground and a brand new concept game; lawn bowling billiards are all being considered! The amenities are connected by a walking loop and weaved into several different types of seating, so visitors can find a place that makes them the most comfortable.
Your feedback will help the Township create a safe and welcoming space that maximizes the benefits for residents.
