Emergency Management

The Township of Langley Emergency Program (TLEP) undertakes planning to maximize the protection of life, public infrastructure, private property, and the environment in the event of an emergency.

To meet this mandate, the TLEP works closely with first response agencies, community partners and other Township departments to develop plans and programs to increase the Township’s ability to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies.

The Emergency Plan for the Township of Langley is based on an “all hazard” approach. Training and exercises are facilitated regularly, with many opportunities for coordination and collaboration with regional emergency management partners, provincial organizations, and stakeholders from private and public industry.

The TLEP will:

  • comply with local and provincial emergency legislation and regulations
  • use BCEMS and ICS to ensure effective incident management and action planning practices
  • develop and maintain Emergency Response Plans and Procedures to ensure operational readiness
  • increase community resilience by educating residents and business on how to prepare for and recover from emergencies
  • recruit and train volunteers to support with the delivery of emergency support services (become an ESS volunteer)
