Emergency Management

The Township of Langley Emergency Program (TLEP) undertakes planning to maximize the protection of life, public infrastructure, private property, and the environment in the event of an emergency. To meet this mandate, the TLEP works closely with local first response agencies and other Township departments to develop plans and programs which outline the Township’s mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery measures.

The Emergency Plan for the Township of Langley is based on an ‘all hazards’ approach, and is tested yearly by staff and responding agencies such as Police, School District, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Environment, Railway, Provincial Emergency Program, and Emergency Social Services (to support those evacuated or impacted).

The TLEP will:

  • maintain and update Emergency Plans
  • encourage citizens and businesses to be prepared
  • train responders to follow BCERMS model of response
  • train volunteer responders
  • ensure during a disaster that guidelines and legislation are adhered to
  • spread the word to "be prepared"
