Celebrating a Landmark Year at Langley Regional Airport (YNJ)

As 2025 draws to a close, the entire team at YNJ want to extend our warmest holiday wishes and a sincere thank you to our tenants, partners, and the community. This year has been nothing short of extraordinary, marked by significant growth, foundational improvements, and an unprecedented level of activity.

We are incredibly proud to look back on a year filled with major accomplishments that solidify our commitment to being a premier regional airport.  This year, we didn't just meet our goals—we soared past them!

Our airport operations require consistent dedication and hard work across the board. This year, we managed 93,000 flight movements, completed 2,306 work orders, dedicated 380 hours to grass cutting, sold 171,000 litres of fuel and welcomed over 12,000 people to our inaugural Air Fair!

These are just some of the major successes and operational victories that marked this phenomenal year.

Highlights of Our Success

  • Strategic and Land Use Plan Completion: We finalized our new Strategic and Land Use Plan, charting a clear course for sustainable growth and development over the next decade.
  • Successful Lease Rate Review: A comprehensive Lease Rate Review was successfully completed. This crucial step ensures the long-term viability of the airport by generating the necessary revenue to achieve self-sustainability and fund the significant investment required to address and replace failing infrastructure. The new rates ensure fair and consistent policies for all our valued tenants while securing the future of the airport.
  • New Airport Bylaw Implemented: We introduced a crucial new Airport Bylaw to enhance safety, efficiency, and compliance across the field.
  • Major Generator Upgrade: Our operational resilience was significantly boosted with the completion of a major generator upgrade, enhancing reliability for critical systems.
  • New Fuel Pumps Installation: Our facility has successfully enhanced it’s fueling capabilities through the installation of modern pump systems, ensuring streamlined operations for the aviation community. This improvement was supported by the Province of British Columbia via the B.C. Air Access Program (BCAAP), whose contribution was vital in modernizing our service delivery.
  • New Development on Lot 44: We are thrilled to see new activity with the successful development commencing on Lot 44, marking a key step in expanding our economic footprint.
  • First-Ever Airport Air Fair: A massive success! We hosted our first-ever Air Fair, welcoming the community to the airport and inspiring the next generation of pilots and enthusiasts.
  • DC-3 Relocation: A historic moment saw the iconic DC-3 moved to its new display location, ensuring its legacy endures for all visitors to enjoy.
  • Emergency Response Exercise: We successfully completed a full-scale emergency response exercise, confirming our readiness and inter-agency coordination for any scenario.
  • Pioneering Advanced Air Mobility (AAM): Completed a delegation trip to North America's east coast to tour emerging technology facilities, successfully positioning YNJ as a future AAM hub for Western Canada.
  • Achieving Record Aircraft Movements: Approaching 95,000 aircraft movements this year, demonstrating significant growth and operational activity.
  • Maintaining Highest Safety Standards: Successfully completed a rigorous Transport Canada Process Inspection (Audit) of the Emergency Response Program with zero significant findings, confirming our commitment to safety excellence.
  • Extending Infrastructure Lifespan: Executed the third consecutive successful crack-sealing program on paved surfaces, proactively ensuring surface integrity, higher maintenance standards, and maximum service life.
  • Strengthening Community and Inter-Departmental Ties: Enhanced engagement with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure the airport is proactively involved in strategic planning and addressing community concerns.

Building on this monumental year, we are excited for the initiatives planned for the year ahead. Top of the list is hosting another Air Fair! Get ready for even more spectacular aircraft, community engagement, and family fun. We look forward to continuing our work to enhance infrastructure, safety, and tenant relations.

As we celebrate our accomplishments, it's important to remember the core values that guide every decision and action taken by the YNJ team. We commit to upholding these principles as we move forward:

  • Accountability: Taking ownership of our actions and fulfilling our commitments to our stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Working together with tenants, partners, and the community to achieve shared success.
  • Excellence: Striving for the highest standards in safety, operations, and customer service.
  • Adaptability: Remaining flexible and responsive to the evolving needs of the aviation industry and our region.
  • Integrity: Operating with honesty, transparency, and ethical rigor in all our dealings.

Thank you again for making this such an outstanding year. We wish you a safe and prosperous holiday season!
