Adopt-a-Catch Basin in Your Neighbourhood
Help keep catch basins clear! Township residents, businesses and community groups can now adopt a catch basin in the Township through our Adopt-a-Catch Basin Program.
Township crews work hard to regularly remove leaves from streets and keep catch basins clear, but with 9,000 catch basins in the Township of Langley it is difficult to attend every one of them, especially after a weather event.
Catch basins have an important job of draining water off our streets. Water collected by catch basins leads into local streams and waterways. During certain times of the year, particularly fall and winter, catch basins are susceptible to being covered by leaves, snow, debris and litter.
This is why we need your help! When you sign up to adopt a catch basin and keep it clear, you:
- help protect private and public property from localized flooding
- prevent litter and debris from entering waterways such as streams and rivers
- make a difference in your community by helping to keep your neighbourhood clean and safe
You can adopt a catch basin in a few easy steps:
- Select up to six catch basins from the online map and complete the application at tol.ca/catchbasin.
- Monitor your catch basin(s) throughout the year.
- Clean your catch basin(s) when you notice leaves, litter, ice, or snow covering it.
- Report the dates you clean your catch basin(s) through the online map.
