Celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day with an interactive performance at salishan Place

Join us this Sunday, June 21 at 1pm to experience an engaging and interactive retelling of the classic Indigenous story How Raven Stole the Sun by 3 Crows Productions.

This high-energy, family-friendly performance invites audience members on stage to participate, using improv, gentle humour, and encouragement to help them contribute their own creativity to the story. Blending entertainment with education, the performance introduces traditional Indigenous place names and languages from across Turtle Island, while sharing important cultural values.

How Raven Stole the Sun tells the story of how the world was originally trapped in total darkness because a greedy chief kept the sun, moon, and stars hidden in carved boxes. The trickster Raven devised a clever plan to steal the light, bring day to the world, and accidentally gained his black feathers in the process.

Register online or register by phone or in person at any Township community or recreation centre during facility hours. To secure your spot, registration in advance is recommended.

June is National Indigenous History Month, and June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day. It's an occasion for Canadians to come together, reflect on and celebrate the unique heritage, traditions, and knowledge of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.
