Celebrating Green Art Exhibition Creativity

On May 21, Langley Centennial Museum hosted an exhibition closing event with many of the participating artists in the Green Art: Sharing Sustainable Approaches and Practices exhibit.
Peter Tulumello, the Township of Langley’s Director of Arts, Culture and Community Initiatives, moderated a panel discussion on art, sustainable materials, and best practices with Arnt and Valerie Arntzen, Laurel Dahill, Alex Stewart, and Natasha Vanderzwan. These artists, who had works in the exhibition, shared ideas and information about their media, their artworks and how they incorporate sustainability into their creative processes.
Peter Tulumello also announced the exhibition award winners. The majority of the selections were chosen by guest jurors Alanna Edwards, Art Instructor and Engagement Facilitator at the Surrey Art Gallery and Courtney Miller, Gallery Manager and Curator at the ACT Arts Centre.
“Selecting winners was challenging for the adjudicators, given the variety of amazing, greenspiring works in the show,” said Museum Curator Lindsay Foreman. “The featured works helped us all think before we toss things and pursue green ways of creating and sharing.”
