Council approves more road enhancements
At the July 15, 2024 meeting, Council endorsed planning and authorized funds for several road enhancements to improve safety, accessibility, and traffic flow.
“As a fast-growing community, it’s important that our infrastructure grow with us, including roads that are better, safer, and more accessible for multiple modes of transportation,” said Township of Langley Mayor Eric Woodward.
86 Avenue from 200 Street to 202 Street enhancements
Council endorsed the conceptual design of 86 Avenue from 200 Street to 202 Street that includes four (4) vehicle travel lanes, possible on-street parking in the outer travel lanes during off-peak hours, bicycle lanes, sidewalks, and multi-use paths, and possible signage indicating the provision of future BRT lanes.
They also endorsed modifying the design of 86 Avenue between 200 Street and 201 Street to replace the unprotected bicycle lanes and sidewalk with a multi-use path by reconstructing the north and south boulevards.
Council authorized funding to complete the design of 86 Avenue from 200 Street to 202 Street in 2024, construct 86 Avenue from 200 Street to 202 Street in 2025, and reconstruct the north and south boulevards on 86 Avenue between 200 Street and 201 Street.
North Langley truck route improvements

Council also authorized funding for the design and preparation of construction of sidewalks, bike lanes, and street lighting on 88 Avenue from Wright Street to Glover Road, and endorsed adding the inclusion of sidewalks, bike lanes and street lighting on 88 Avenue from Wright Street to Glover Road similar to 96 Avenue to the North Langley truck route capital project, subject to future public consultation with affected residents and the wider community of Fort Langley.
Traffic calming safety improvements in Fort Langley
Council authorized funding for the implementation of four (4) raised crosswalks and six (6) speed humps along Billy Brown Road in Fort Langley to improve safety on the road stemming from numerous complaints by residents of frequent excessive speeding along that road.
