The Township of Langley participates in the Metro Vancouver Regional Nuisance Mosquito Control Program to monitor and treat mosquito breeding sites throughout the season.
Floodwater mosquitoes associated with rising Fraser River levels are the most common source of mosquito nuisance in Langley. Residents can help reduce mosquito activity by eliminating standing water around their homes, as even small amounts can become breeding sites.
Prevent mosquitoes around your home
Help stop mosquitoes before they start.
- Remove standing water from your yard
- Repair leaky outdoor taps
- Clear blocked drains
- Empty containers that collect water
- Keep pond water circulating with a pump
Protect yourself from mosquito bites
Reduce your risk of being bitten.
- Being cautious at dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active
- Wearing long, loose-fitting, light-coloured clothing outdoors
- Using mosquito repellent
- Ensuring you have proper screens on windows and doors
Report a mosquito concern
To report mosquito activity or breeding sites, call the Mosquito Hotline at 604-432-6228. Operated by Morrow BioScience Ltd., the hotline is available 24 hours a day, and messages are returned within 24 hours.
Residents can also use the Morrow BioScience Mosquito Reporter, an online tool that helps track and map mosquito activity throughout the region.
