Personal training frequently asked questions

How long are personal training sessions?
Our Introductory Packages include two 45 minute sessions. All other personal training sessions are 1-hour long.
What kind of training or education do Township of Langley trainers have?
Our trainers come from a variety of backgrounds and are either registered with the BC Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA), CanFitPro, American Council of Exercise (ACE), or BC Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK). Township trainers offer a range of experience which can include working with older adults, or Osteofit, Pre/Postnatal, Pilates and Yoga certification. All trainers are required to maintain their certification by taking courses, workshops, and/or attending conferences.
Do I need to have a pass or pay admission in addition to personal training fees?
No, your admittance to the weight room is included on the day of your sessions. If you wish to use the weight room or attend classes between your Personal Training sessions you can pay drop-in, or purchase a pass.
Are personal training sessions refundable?
Personal training sessions are non-refundable.
Do my personal training sessions expire?
Yes, personal training sessions will expire one (1) year from the date of purchase.
Can I purchase one session?
Yes, however, if you are new to Township of Langley personal training, the first session will be used for assessment purposes. We recommend purchasing an Intro Package which includes an assessment as well as a training session to get you started. If you are already working with a personal trainer, the session will be used as requested by client or personal trainer.
When will I be contacted to book my sessions?
Upon receiving your personal training forms a staff member will contact you within 3 – 5 business days to book your first appointment.
Do you offer Tandem sessions?
Yes, as of September 2024, we offer both 1-on-1 and tandem personal training sessions.
When are assessments done?
If a client is new to Township of Langley personal training, the trainer will need to conduct an assessment to understand the limitations and strengths of the client. The first session of each personal training package (Intro, 1, 3, 5, 10 sessions) is an assessment for new clients. If they are an existing client, then they have already conducted an assessment with a trainer and can continue their sessions.
What happens in an assessment? Why do I need one?
The trainer will use a series of tests to measure the client’s strengths and limitations. Following the assessment the client will sit down with a trainer to discuss fitness goals and build a fitness plan. Assessments are done to ensure that a personal trainer understands all aspects of the client’s strengths and limitations in order to best help the client reach their health and fitness goals.
Do you take ICBC or WCB clients?
No, we do not take clients with active ICBC or WCB claims.
Small Group Training
  • This program begins with baseline testing to help you set goals. Trainers then work with the small group (maximum of 6) to set targets with a focus on building whole-body strength, cardiovascular endurance, movement, efficiency, flexibility and more.
