Electric Vehicles

View our Low Carbon Mobility Plan: Electric Vehicles to learn how the Township is preparing for the future of electric vehicles.

Transportation accounts for 54% of carbon pollution in the Township of Langley.

Electric vehicles are an important part of reducing pollution and transitioning to healthy and clean transportation options. Read more about our plan to reduce our emissions from transportation and mobility in the Climate Action Strategy.

Why drive an electric vehicle?

By 2040, 100% of new passenger vehicles sold in BC will be powered by electricity or alternative fuel technology. With increasing travel range, a growing public charging network, and a variety of financial incentives, it’s easier than ever to make the switch to an EV.

To learn more about available vehicle and charging station incentives, visit the Plug In BC website.

Where to charge your electric vehicle

Township Level 2 Charging

The Township of Langley currently operates ten Level 2 charging stations for public use. Each station has two charging ports and can charge two vehicles at the same time.

All Level 2 charging stations in the Township will have a user fee of $1.00 per hour for the first two hours of charging, and $3.00 per hour after that. User fees help the Township recover costs and allow for further investment in sustainable transportation infrastructure.

Other locations
The EV infrastructure in BC is some of the best in Canada. There are now more than 2,500 Level 2 charging stations, and a growing number of DC Fast Chargers across the province. Find a charging station near you by using the PlugShare map accessible through the Plugshare app or website. The maps provided by Plugshare allow users to filter by network and plug type to identify the stations that work best for their charging needs. Through the app or website, users can also provide information on the status of the station and alert their fellow EV drivers to any maintenance issues.
