Neighbourhood Filming Online Polling Initiative
The Township of Langley is launching a new pilot project to make it easier and more secure for residents and businesses to register their support or non-support for film production companies applying to complete exceptional work in their neighbourhood.
Exceptional work is considered to be:
- working beyond bylaw-permitted hours (before 7am and/or after 10pm)
- use of special effects including but not limited to stunts, pyrotechnics and simulated gunfire
- other as identified by the Township
A new online polling portal has been developed to allow Township residents and businesses to register their support or non-support for a film production’s exceptional work through a quick online survey.
This new polling process replaces a long-standing practice of film production companies going door-to-door polling neighbourhoods in-person to obtain signatures.
This online polling portal is being administered by the Township of Langley and all information collected will be confidential.
How it works:
- A film production company applies to the Township to complete exceptional work in your neighbourhood.
- You will receive a Township-approved notification letter from the film production company detailing the exceptional work. Upon receiving the letter, you will have five days to complete the survey.
- To complete the survey and to register your support or non-support, visit the website or scan the QR code that is on the letter.
- Enter the film identification number found on the top left corner of the letter.
- Answer the quick online survey.
Non-responses will be considered as being in support of the film production’s exceptional work.
Have you received a notification letter?
Complete the survey to register your support or non-support by clicking the button below or scanning the QR code that is on the letter. Have your film identification number ready, that is found on the top left corner of the letter.
Where a majority of residents and businesses support the film production’s exceptional work, a permit may be issued by the Township of Langley in accordance with the Township’s Filming Guidelines.
