Protecting Yourself
Whether at work, home or out in the community, health authorities continue to recommend following the same procedures as recommended during cold and flu season, including:
- Regularly and thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds – this is the single most effective way of reducing infection spread.
- Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if hand-washing is not available.
- Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, shield coughs and sneezes with a tissue, elbow or shoulder but not bare hands. Dispose of any used tissues as soon as possible and wash your hands afterwards.
- Avoid touching your face, mouth, eyes and nose with your hands.
- Avoid others who are unwell.
- Stay home when you are sick.
