Snowfall Updates and Impacts
Township crews work to clear and maintain over 500 kilometres of roadways based on a priority route categories, and 65 kilometres of hard-surface trails, sidewalks and pathways on park property and park parking lots.

- Before venturing out, get the most up to date information by viewing each facility’s web page for hours of operation.
- If you are registered for a program or activity and it is cancelled you will be contacted by staff.

Curbside collection
- Winter weather conditions can pose challenges for curbside collection, from frozen items stuck inside Green Carts, to streets being missed due to wintry road conditions. To help ensure your materials are picked up on collection day, we’ve compiled information and tips here.
Sidewalk snow removal reminder
- When it snows, Township of Langley residents and businesses are reminded that they are responsible for keeping their sidewalks clear, for everyone’s safety.
- Residential property owners are required to clear snow from sidewalks fronting their property within 24 hours of a snowfall.
- All properties in the Township of Langley zoned as industrial, commercial and institutional are required to remove snow and ice daily from sidewalks and walkways fronting or adjacent to the property by 10:00am.
- Cleared snow cannot be pushed on roadways, as it may hinder vehicles. Cleared snow must remain on the property.
- This bylaw helps keep our community safe. It protects people, both physically and legally. Clearing snow and ice from walkways will help prevent injuries from falls and protect you from incurring fines of up to $100 per day.

- After a snowfall, and when warmer weather is forecasted, residents can help reduce flooding risks by clearing nearby catch basins of snow and ice to allow melting snow and slush to drain properly.

- Stay clear of fast-flowing rivers and riverbanks as water levels rise during snow melt.
Winter driving tips
- During extreme weather and road conditions, if you must drive: use winter tires, drive slowly and carefully, give extra travel time, and increase distance between cars. Better yet, take transit if you can. Read more winter weather driving tips from ICBC.
Outdoor skating
- Please stay off outdoor ice. Ponds in the Township of Langley may look inviting but are seldom thick enough to safely skate or play on.
For those in need of shelter
For those in need of shelter, the Gateway of Hope opened its doors to those seeking refuge from storms. When activated, their Extreme Weather Response Program (EWR) provides overnight shelter. Additionally, their Warming Centre also opens. Contact them directly for opening days and times.
