Sustainability Grant Pilot Program
The Sustainability Grant Pilot Program was launched in April 2022. The Program encourages residents and eligible organizations to undertake creative, equitable, and community-driven projects that:
- Have a positive impact on the environment
- Decrease greenhouse gas emissions; and
- Improve community resiliency to climate change
Grants of up to $500 were available for resident projects, and up to $2,000 was available for eligible organizations’ projects.
In its first year, the Program received a total of 15 applications and funding was fully subscribed. A snapshot of projects include:
- A sustainability-themed neighbourhood event with electric vehicles, rain garden information, and local trail and ecosystem information
- Free reduce-and-reuse art classes for children
- Re-wilding a front yard and turning it into an educational display for neighbours
The program is expected to continue in a pilot format for 2023-2024, with Year 2 applications accepted from April 1 to May 15, 2023. Questions can be emailed to sustainability@tol.ca.
