Emergency Management BC’s Disaster Financial Assistance Program

Was your private property damaged by overland flooding earlier this month? If so, you may be eligible for Disaster Financial Assistance via Emergency Management BC.

Under the direction of the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General, Disaster Financial Assistance is a provincially-managed program to help homeowners and residential tenants recover from uninsurable disasters and provide aid to charitable organizations, small businesses, and farmers when their livelihood is at risk.

Following a disaster, when the provincial government deems eligible, Disaster Financial Assistance can compensate individuals for 80% of eligible claims to reinstate essential items and the necessities of life for uninsurable assets.

The program is managed solely by Emergency Management BC and the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General. If you feel you may be eligible for assistance, find forms, guidelines, and a step-by-step guide at the Government of BC’s Disaster Financial Assistance webpage.
