Residents Called on to Help Reimagine Downtown Aldergrove Location

The Township of Langley is in the early stages of planning for the future of 27030 Fraser Highway, a municipally-owned property located in downtown Aldergrove. Opportunities for public feedback, including an online survey and an upcoming in-person workshop, are underway.

Situated just west of the Aldergrove Credit Union Community Centre, the property is currently an underutilized retail business location. With the lease of the sole tenant expiring in 2025, there is potential to reimagine the anticipated vacant space. To ensure the community’s needs are addressed, the Township is calling on residents to share their thoughts.

The survey, available via, asks residents to reflect on what Aldergrove currently has to offer and identify the types of places, resources, and assets that could be added to enhance the community. Places for outdoor gatherings, local business spaces, childcare and affordable housing options, and sport and recreation offerings are just some of the ideas put forth in the survey. Residents are also asked to consider goals and objectives of the Township’s Sustainability Charter, Official Community Plan, Aldergrove Community Plan, and specifically the growing, aging, and diversifying population, resiliency to climate hazards, access to community services, and economic prosperity when providing their thoughts.

To complement the survey, residents are invited to take part in an evening workshop at the Aldergrove Credit Union Community Centre on Wednesday, May 18. This workshop will include representatives from businesses, event organizers, and community-based organizations. These groups, alongside Township residents, will work together to generate ideas on how this site can best enhance the quality of life in Aldergrove.

The survey is open until Friday, May 27. The results of the public engagement opportunities will be shared with Council for consideration in early summer.
