Spring Burning Permits Now Available

Burning Permits for the Spring Burning Season are available online only at tol.ca/burning.

Burning PermitsThe Incidental Outdoor Burning Permit is intended for yard and garden cleanup, and is available only to properties .2 hectare (.5 acre) and larger, in areas where surrounding properties are equal or greater in size.

Burning permits are only valid for items that are indigenous to the property such as branches, leaves, plants, tree trimmings and weeds. A burn pile can be a max of 1.2 metres (3 feet) in height, 2 metres (6 feet) in width and must be a minimum of 15 metres (50 feet) away from any structures and property lines.

Did you know that grass clippings, leaves and twigs can also be put in your green cart? Green waste can also be composted or taken to a Metro Vancouver Recycling and Waste Centre.

Burning Permits are valid from April 26 to May 31. During the burning period, Metro Vancouver and government ministries could still implement air-quality conditions and restrictions. All permits expire on Monday, May 31, 2021.
