Help prepare your child to be active and healthy for life!

Your kids will have a blast in this after school program focused on physical activity, movement, health, and fun.

Active Beyond the Bell runs for two hours after dismissal in the gymnasium of your school, or if your child goes to Alex Hope Elementary or James Kennedy Elementary, a supervised walk to the Walnut Grove Community Centre.

Active Beyond the Bell starts September 20, 2021.

During Kindergarten gradual entry, Active Beyond the Bell starts at its regular time. We do not accommodate early pick ups during gradual entry.

Yes, weekly registration fees are refundable if a request for withdrawal is received at least 5 days before the start of the program. Each day we focus on fundamental movement skills, activity, and nutrition. Activities are included that introduce or practice these skills in a fun, non-competitive environment. Daily happenings vary to allow for input from the kids, free time, and snacks.
Physical Literacy is the ability to move confidently and competently in a variety of ways on a variety of surfaces. Studies show that children today are not gaining the basic skills to move confidently and competently. Without these skills, children are less likely to participate in sports as a child, and even less likely to participate as an adult. We introduce and practice these skills in a fun environment that focuses on personal development.  As confidence increases so does the probability that kids will learn to be active for live.

All staff go through an interview, reference check, and criminal record check before they are hired. Additionally, all staff must:

  • Have a valid First Aid Certificate.
  • Complete a Township-specific orientation process that includes safety, expectations, and customer service.
For COVID-19 related updates and information, see your school’s information website. Active Beyond the Bell staff will also follow Township of Langley workplace safety protocols for their protection while working off and on-site.
If you have further questions, please email ABTB@tol.ca and we would be happy to assist you.
