Due to the resignation of an elected Township of Langley School Trustee, a by-election is required to fill this vacancy for the remainder of the four-year term ending November 2022. Accordingly, an election is required and will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021.
Notice is hereby given to the electors of the Township of Langley that nominations for qualified candidates will be received by the Chief Election Officer at:

During that period, nomination documents will be received between 8:00am and 4:30pm Monday to Friday, by appointment, for the following office:

A person is qualified to be nominated, elected, and to hold office if they meet the following criteria:
Nomination documents, requirements, procedures, and related information for prospective candidates, candidates’ agents, elector organizations, and campaign organizers are now available in Legislative Services. View the School District Trustee Nomination Package.
Candidate campaigning financing, Electoral Organization Campaign Financing, and Third Party Sponsors are administered by Elections BC and not by the Township of Langley. The requirements for campaign financing and third party sponsors can be found within the “Local Elections Campaign Financing Act” or by contacting Elections BC at elections.bc.ca. In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, the following expense limits apply for candidates during the campaign period (January 30, 2021 to February 27, 2021) for Board of Education Trustee – Trustee Area #1 is $38,186.60
The Township of Langley uses the Provincial Voters List for its List of Registered Electors. Advance Elector Registrations will be accepted at the Civic Facility until 4:30pm on January 4, 2021 by appointment.
Appointments can be made by contacting Bob Wilson, Deputy Chief Election Officer, at bwilson@tol.ca or by phone at 604-533-6138.
The advance registration period then closes on January 5, 2021. If you are not on the Township of Langley’s List of Registered Electors and miss the advance registration, you may register in person on the day you vote.
The List of Registered Electors is available for public inspection by appointment from Tuesday, January 12, 2021 until the close of voting on the general voting day at:

An elector may request that personal information respecting the elector be omitted from or obscured on the List of Registered electors. On request, the Chief Election Officer will amend the list available to the public by omitting or obscuring the address of the elector or other information about the elector.
Objections to the registration of a person whose name appears on the List of Registered Electors must be received in writing before 4:00pm on Friday, January 22, 2021. An objection may only be made by a person entitled to be registered as an elector of the Township of Langley and can only be made on the basis that the person whose name appears has died or is not qualified to be registered as an elector in the Township of Langley.
