Councillor Bob Long

Re-elected to office in 2018, Councillor Bob Long is currently serving his seventh term as a Township of Langley Councillor.

Born on Robbie Burns Day in England in 1957, Bob moved to the Fraser Valley in 1968.

Professional Career

Ten years after moving to Canada from his birthplace in South England, and at just 21 years of age, Bob founded a community newspaper in Maple Ridge, BC. He performed duties in every aspect of the industry as publisher, photographer, and as manager of sales, production, and circulation. In 1984, he received the award for ‘best news photograph’ from the BC/Yukon Newspaper Association.

In 1986, Bob joined Trinity Western University as manager of the University Press, and in 1990 he started University Printers Ltd., a commercial printing company in Langley.

Bob also operates Mainstage Productions, a stage, light, and sound production company. He has worked in various theatres throughout North America and has engineered live concerts for many gospel music performers over the years, including a tour of the USA with Dove and Grammy Award winner, Steven Curtis Chapman.

Bob and his wife Karen reside in Aldergrove where they have operated various restaurants over the past 20 years.
