With 75% of our municipality located in the Agricultural Land Reserve, half of the farms in Metro Vancouver can be found in the Township of Langley. We are also home to one of the region's largest retail centres and the Langley Events Centre, an exceptional place for sports, recreation, and entertainment. Agri-tourism destinations, golf courses, wineries, theatres, museums, recreation centres, and pools give the Township's 110,000 residents, visitors, and tourists plenty to see and do, while a healthy commercial climate ensures that our local economy thrives.
With all the modern conveniences of a city and fresh air and scenery only minutes away, more and more people are choosing to live and work in the Township of Langley. As our community grows and continues to be an enviable residential and business destination, we will continue to honour our history. Known as "The Birthplace of BC," it was here in Fort Langley that Sir James Douglas made the proclamation that brought the crown colony of British Columbia into being on November 19, 1868.
