Health and Wellness

Health is a state of physical, mental, and social wellbeing, not simply the absence of disease or infirmity, while wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices towards a more successful existence. The Township is working to enhance both the health and wellness of its residents by facilitating active living and healthy eating and improving access to health programs and services.

Recreational and Cultural Programs

The Township of Langley offers a wide variety of recreational and cultural programs for adventure-seekers of all ages. Check out the current issue of the Leisure Guide for a list of the various programs being offered by the Township.

Local Food

In 2013, Township Council endorsed the Agricultural Viability Strategy (AVS). The AVS identifies a number of policies and actions to support local agriculture, leading to more local food production.

One outcome of the AVS was the completion of a Food Hub Feasibility Study in 2015. Food hubs are integrated facilities that process, package, store, distribute, and sell local food. The feasibility study found that the Township is well positioned for a food hub and provided a list of possible next steps.

Langley Healthy Communities Partnership

The Langley Healthy Communities Partnership  is a joint initiative of the Township of Langley, the City of Langley, and Fraser Health. Its purpose is to provide broad-based community input and guidance for the development of concrete action plans to improve the overall health of the community. The Langley Healthier Community Partnership Steering Council is co-chaired by the Township of Langley and City of Langley Mayors and Fraser Health and is made up of numerous community leaders who are committed to creating a healthy Langley.
