Project Overview

In 2019, the Province introduced new requirements that local governments prepare and publish housing needs reports. Housing needs reports are intended to help identify existing and projected gaps in housing supply by collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative information about local demographics, economics, housing stock and other factors.

Municipalities have limited mandates and resources to address housing affordability, but they can play an important role, among others, in identifying and communicating local housing needs.  Once complete, the Housing Needs Report will help guide future housing strategies for the Township.  It is currently anticipated that the Housing Needs Report will be complete in July 2020, with a review and potential update of the Township’s Housing Action Plan to follow.

Funding for this project is partially provided by the Union of British Columbia Municipalities (UBCM) Housing Needs Reports Program.
