Emergency Services and Safety

The Township of Langley is excited to launch our Emergency Support Services (ESS) Program and we are lookingfor volunteersfor this important program. 

ESS is a provincially funded program, implemented by local government designed to provide immediate support to people affected by emergencies of all types and sizes. 

ESS offers 72 hours assistance, for residents without insurance, for shelter, food, clothing to evacuees displaced from their homes.

As a volunteer with our program, you will benefit by: 

  • having an opportunity to serve your community and give back

  • being fulfilled by helping people in their moment of greatest need and crisis

  • working closely with Emergency Management organizations, first responders, and local and provincial partners

  • being provided personal and professional training and development opportunities (including free courses at the Justice Institute of BC on emergency support, emergency operations, and other topics)

  • attaining valuable volunteer experience that meets educational requirements (e.g. for university courses) and supports your career goals (e.g. careers in emergency management, fire, search and rescue, others)
