Secondary Suites
Secondary suites offer many benefits to the community by providing more affordable housing options to residents. A building permit is required for all secondary suites and they must conform to municipal bylaws and provincial standards for public health and safety.
In 2025, all properties with secondary suites will be subject to an Annual Secondary Suite Infrastructure Fee collected with the annual property taxes. Where applicable, additional fee amounts equal to 30% of the annual flat rate for water and sewer utilities will be charged. Property owners with secondary suites will be given priority with the upcoming voluntary residential water metering program if so requested.
