Garbage, Recycling and Green Cart
Online request services for collection programs
Do you need a new blue box? Are you looking to change a garbage or Green Cart to a different size? Maybe you’re looking to schedule a Large Item Pick Up? The Township has improved its online request services for curbside collection programs. Requests for recycling containers, changes to carts, or scheduling a Large Item Pick Up can all be completed online. Click on one of the links to submit a request.
Sort it right
Are you still including glass bottles in your blue box? Maybe you’re still separating newsprint from other paper products. Make sure you’re sorting it right by using our ‘What Goes Where’ tool below, or by reviewing our recycling guide. Remember, bins don’t sort recycling, people do!
Recycling in the Township
Do you ever wonder why you go through the work of sorting items at home, only for it to look like the recycling truck empties everything into the same spot? You’re not alone! Rest assured the recyclables you separate at home stay separated once collected. Watch our short video to see how recycling trucks are designed to keep items separated.
Acceptable recycling containers
Throughout the year you may find you have too much recycling to fit in your current recycling bins. The Township of Langley provides blue boxes, grey boxes, and yellow bags to residents at no charge. Properties are permitted to set out unlimited amounts of residential recycling provided it is sorted into the appropriate container. The use of clear or translucent blue bags for extra recyclables is not accepted.
What should I do if I have extra recyclables? |
Blue boxes, grey boxes and yellow bags are available for pick up at the Township’s Civic Facility (20338 – 65 Ave). Yellow bags are also available for pick up at all of the Township’s recreation and community centres. Unable to make it to one of our facilities? Request delivery online or by calling 604-530-3939 (allow up to 3 weeks). |
How do I get rid of my excess recycling right away? |
Most household recyclables are free to drop-off at your local Recycling and Waste Centre. Be sure to call ahead. |
Set out and collection times
Garbage carts, Green Carts, and recycling should be curbside by 7:30am or it may not be collected. It is not recommended to have garbage curbside before 8:00pm the night before. To see a collection calendar for your property, type your address below. For detailed program information, please visit our garbage cart, Green Cart, or recycling pages.
Never miss another collection day!
How can I adjust the timing of my collection reminders? |
By default, collection reminders are sent 12 hours prior to the start of collection day (7:30am). To adjust the timing of your collection reminder, the existing reminder will need to be cancelled and a new one set up. To cancel a reminder:

Why does the system notify me of ‘No Collection’ days? |
Garbage Carts, Green Carts, and recycling that are set out well in advance of the scheduled collection day puts Township receptacles at higher risk of being damaged or stolen, as well as greater chance of litter related to weather or animal activity. ‘No Collection’ notices are intended as a reminder to keep bins stored as collection has shifted this week. |
I do not want to be notified of holiday events, only scheduled collection activities. How can this be achieved? |
When setting up your collection reminder, choose the “Single Collection or Event” option and toggle on only the collections you want to be notified of, ensuring the “Holiday” option remains off. |
This calendar is only showing recycling for my address, what is my garbage and organics schedule? |
If the calendar is only showing recycling collection for your home it is likely because your address only receives recycling collection service from the Township. Homes in our more rural areas as well as some strata complexes do not receive municipal garbage and organics collection. If you believe your home does receive municipal garbage/organics service and it is not displaying, please contact us at opsinfo@tol.ca. |
Why did the Township change collection reminder service providers? |
Recycle Coach is a Canadian company that was selected through a competitive bid process following service reductions and cost increases with the previous provider. While there are some differences with the Recycle Coach program, the core functions of being able to view your property’s collection schedule, use the What Goes Where tool, and subscribe to collection reminders or alerts are similar to the previous program. |
