Frequently asked questions

What does a “play-based” preschool philosophy mean?
Pretend Play

Children experiment with sharing and problem solving, acting out imaginary experiences and trying to make sense of their world.

Art

Scribbling, painting, playing with clay and more help children learn how their mind and hands work together. These art experiences increase control of hand muscles which are a must for pre-writing. Learning about shapes, forms and textures are all pre-math and science skills.

Books

Little ones are encouraged and inspired to develop a lifelong love of reading through discovering and exploring the magic of books.

Music and Movement

Providing children with wonderful physical outlets, soothing music or songs can release tension, while singing can help little ones to develop language and self-expression.

Table Toys

The wonderful world of math is introduced through Lego, puzzles, matching cards and more.

Block Play

Self-esteem increases as children successfully make decisions about block sizes and shapes and they learn to share and cooperate with others.

How do I register my child?
Online registration opens Wednesday, January 18 at 12:00pm for new registrants. Register for licensed preschool. A non-refundable $50 registration fee is due at time of registration.
How old does my child have to be to go to preschool? Which age class do I register in?
Your child must be 3-years-old by December 31, 2023 for the 3-year-old program. Your child must be at least 4-years-old by December 31, 2023 for the 4-year-old program.
Does my child need to be toilet-trained?
It would be ideal if your child was toilet-trained, but it is not mandatory. Teachers can assist with bathroom duties, but do not change diapers. If your child is still in a diaper or pull-up, you will be asked to stay nearby in case of an accident. We take regular bathroom breaks and ask that all children come to preschool with a second set of clothing. For further information on our toilet process, please refer to the Parents' Guide.
How does payment work?

A non-refundable $50 administration fee is due at the time of registration. The cost for a full year varies depending on the total number of classes, please talk to us for details. Monthly payment options are available.

Payment options:

  • Credit Amex, MasterCard or Visa
  • Cheque
  • Debit

Payments are deducted on the first day of each month, starting September 1.

What do I need to send with my child?

In your child’s backpack there should be:

  • a lunch kit with a healthy snack (no nuts or nut products permitted)
  • a water bottle
  • a spare set of clothes (shirt, pants, socks, underwear)
  • appropriate weather-specific clothing, as we go outside every day (rain pants, sun hat, mittens, snow pants, etc.)
All clothing, belongings, and items must be clearly labelled with your child’s name.
Is financial assistance available?
Financial assistance is available through the Affordable Child Care Benefit program for licensed programs. Learn more.
