Animals and Pest Control
Animal control
The Langley Animal Protection Society (LAPS) is the Animal Control service provider for the Township, and responds to and investigates complaints regarding dogs and large animals. LAPS is based out of the Patti Dale Animal Shelter.
Beavers and beaver dam management
Landowners are responsible for all beaver management activities, costs and applicable regulatory agency contacts. For information on how best to manage beavers and beaver dams, visit the Beaver and Beaver Dam Management guide.
Chickens
The keeping of chickens (poultry) is regulated by the Township’s Zoning Bylaw. Zones that allow for agricultural use are permitted to keep chickens (poultry). The keeping of chickens (poultry) is not permitted in residential zones.
European Chafer Beetle
The European Chafer Beetle is an invasive insect pest. Its larvae feed on the roots of grasses, causing serious damage to lawns and is often most visible when raccoons, birds and other wildlife, eager to eat the grubs, begin digging up grasses and damaging turf. Between January and March you can monitor your grass for grubs by cutting back a section of the turf and digging around in the dirt. If there are more than five grubs per section, you may want to consider Chafer Beetle control. Learn more about management and treatment here. Some treatments required watering - view watering restrictions and exemptions information here.Related links
