Aldergrove Gateway
Overview
The Township of Langley owns the property at 27030 Fraser Highway. The site is currently an underutilized retail business location directly beside the Aldergrove Community Centre. As we begin to plan for the future of this space, we want to hear your ideas and learn what is most important to you. There were three opportunities to share your feedback: an online survey, an in-person workshop, and an Open House.
Background
This site is on the edge of downtown Aldergrove, with only a sole tenant remaining. With their lease expiring in 2025, there is opportunity to re-imagine the anticipated vacant space.
We’ve heard that residents are proud of local businesses and farmers in the area, and value the community’s parks and recreation opportunities. We’ve also heard about the need for more services close by, as well as more affordable options for childcare and more space for community gatherings.
Like every community in the region, we also need to prepare for flooding, extreme heat, wildfires, and other climate hazards. In addition, we need to consider our growing, aging, and diversifying population.
Tell us what you think:
- What are Aldergrove’s assets?
- Where is there to add potential?
- How can this site be best used to enhance the quality of life in Aldergrove and address the community’s needs?
Public engagement opportunities
Online survey
- The online survey is now closed. Thank you for your feedback.
In-person workshop
- An in-person workshop took place Wednesday, May 18. This workshop included representatives from businesses, event organizers and community-based organizations. Participants worked together in small groups to generate ideas on how this site could best enhance the quality of life in Aldergrove and address the community's needs. Residents were asked to register in advance as space was limited and was first-come, first-serve. Thank you to everyone who attended.
Open house
- An Open House took place Wednesday, June 1. This drop-in event encouraged everyone to share their thoughts on the future of 27030 Fraser Highway. Staff and facilitators were available to answer questions, address concerns, or discuss ideas for the property. No registration was required. Thank you to everyone who attended.
