Surrey Langley SkyTrain Public Engagement
The public is invited to have their say on the first rapid transit project south of the Fraser River in 30 years.
The Surrey Langley SkyTrain Project will connect three municipalities with each other and the existing Skytrain lines providing high-quality, low-cost transportation for tens of thousands of people.
The Surrey Langley SkyTrain will transform the transit experience for people in Metro Vancouver, especially those in the rapidly growing City of Surrey, City of Langley, and the Township of Langley. The project will help provide sustainable and low-cost transportation choices, while providing opportunities for transit-oriented development, new housing, and economic development for many people in those municipalities.
“The Surrey Langley SkyTrain will be the first rapid transit expansion south of the Fraser River in nearly three decades, and I look forward to hearing the results of this round of public engagement. The time has come to get started on this vital transportation project that has a built-in ridership. The SLS project will also create stable, well-paying jobs, move people quickly and efficiently, while fighting climate change by taking more cars off the road,” said Surrey Mayor Doug McCallum.
“It’s exciting to see this project moving forward in providing a sustainable and affordable rapid transit option for our community members by connecting three of BC’s fastest growing municipalities to the Metro Vancouver SkyTrain system,” said Township of Langley Mayor Jack Froese.
“We are happy to see all levels of government coming together to provide rapid transportation to South of the Fraser residents. It’s rewarding to see the vision for our communities in action”, said Langley City Mayor Val van den Broek.
The Surrey Langley Skytrain public engagement begins Monday, May 9, 2022, and runs until June 9. Provide your feedback online and attend a public open house scheduled for May 25 in Surrey and for May 31 in Langley.
