I first came to Langley in 1984 to attend Trinity Western University. I completed my graduate work and returned in 1996,and have since lived in, and served my community as a coach, a professor, a university administrator, community volunteer, councillor, and church home group leader. My wife and me, our three daughters, and our 8 grandchildren love Langley deeply: that’s why I’m standing in this by-election to serve again on council.
Our community needs thoughtful strategy and an effective Council to guide Langley to a strong, prosperous future that hasn’t been buried under debt and poor financial decision making.
My platform is focused on fiscal responsibility and prudent financial stewardship, housing and affordability, and growing our local economy with business-friendly policies. Langley needs experience on council; someone who can step in immediately – we need balance, collaboration, and better relationships with our region, our neighbours, and our invaluable NGO partners.

John Aldag
|
|
John Aldag moved to Langley with his wife and 3 children in 2005. All 3 children attended K-12 in the Langley SchoolDistrict.
Having been elected to the House of Commons twice to represent the residents of the Langleys and Surrey, John has a deep understanding of issues facing our rapidly growing community. John believes strongly in the strength of relationships – within Council, with other levels of government, with business, and our community’s vibrant non-profit sector - to meet the challenges we face collectively.
Issues facing our community include the need for services and facilities to keep up with the demands created by our growing community, balanced with the need to ensure our community remains affordable.
John was and is involved with a number of Langley organizations. Of particular interest are those supporting the well-being of families including childcare, seniors, athletics, arts, heritage, the environment, service organizations, businesses and tourism.

This by-election isn’t just about filling a seat—it’s about restoring trust, strengthening our future, and making sure every voice in our township is heard. I’ve lived in Langley for over 25 years, worked with both the Township and City through the Langley RCMP Detachment, and served as a councillor and Mayor of Langley City. I’m also a former Langley Auxiliary RCMP Constable, and I am an animal advocate and rescuer, and passionate about travel and photography. I believe every tax dollar should be spent wisely. I’ll fight for budgets that reflect community priorities—not political agendas. We deserve safe streets and strong partnerships with law enforcement and social services. I stand for transparent governance—no more backroom decisions. Langley must grow responsibly, with diverse housing options like co-ops, seniors’ villages, and townhouses—and transportation that serves all generations. I’m not here to play politics. I’m here to serve. Let’s build a Langley that works for everyone.

I am proud to call Langley Township home, where I am raising my children. I want to find ways to contribute to our strong, and caring community. As a woman living with disabilities and a mother of children who are hard of hearing, I understand the importance of accessibility, inclusion, and making sure no one is left behind.
I have previously run for municipal office and remain committed to advocating for safer neighbourhoods, responsible development, affordable housing, and stronger support for families and seniors. I believe in listening first, working collaboratively, and ensuring local government decisions reflect the voices of all residents.
My vision is a Township where every person—whether young or old, newcomer or long-time resident—feels connected, valued, and heard. Together, we can build a community that balances growth with livability while protecting the character and quality of life that make Langley unique.
