Health and Wellness
Health is a state of physical, mental and social wellbeing, not simply the absence of disease or infirmity, while wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices towards a more successful existence.
The Township is working to enhance both the health and wellness of its residents by facilitating active living and healthy eating, and improving access to health programs and services.
Recreational and cultural programs
The Township offers a wide variety of recreational and cultural programs for adventure-seekers of all ages.
Local food
In 2013, Township Council endorsed the Agricultural Viability Strategy (AVS). The AVS identifies a number of policies and actions to support local agriculture, leading to more local food production.
One outcome of the AVS was the completion of a Food Hub Feasibility Study in 2015. Food hubs are integrated facilities that process, package, store, distribute and sell local food. The feasibility study found that the Township is well positioned for a food hub and provided a list of possible next steps.
