Children and Youth
With an excellent blend of community amenities such as parks, recreation facilities and schools, the Township of Langley is a popular place to raise a family. This webpage highlights just some of the initiatives that enhance the quality of family life and promote child and youth development in the Township.
Community events
The Township hosts and participates in dozens of community events throughout the year, bringing a child-friendly focus to each of them. Whether it be kids planting trees on Arbour Day or learning about our ecosystems on Rivers Day, we strive to ensure our littlest citizens feel part of our community. Visit the events page for a list of upcoming special events.
Recreational and cultural programs
A wide variety of recreational and cultural programs for children and youth are available in each Township community.
Child Friendly Study
In 2005, the Township completed a Child Friendly Study that provided a list of recommendations for developing child-friendly communities. A key outcome of this study was an amendment to the Township’s Zoning Bylaw to require the provision of amenity areas (e.g. children’s play areas) in new townhouse and apartment developments.
