In the Township of Langley, indoor and outdoor amenity areas are semi-private spaces within multi-family developments that support social gathering and children’s play.
What are Age Friendly Amenities?
These amenities are designed to promote active, inclusive environments for all ages, blending:
- Play opportunities for children
- Spaces for adults to socialize and stay active
- Features that encourage intergenerational interaction
Requirements
Age Friendly Amenity requirements are contained in Section 111.5 of the Zoning Bylaw, and are coordinated with other site planning and landscaping requirements.

| Yes. Even in adult-oriented developments, age-friendly amenity areas are required. These spaces must include play opportunities for children, and may also feature adult exercise equipment to support wellness for all ages. |
