Green Homes
One of the most impactful ways Township residents can decrease their energy use and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is by completing energy efficiency and fuel switching upgrades on their homes.
Did you know?
Approximately 15% of the Township’s GHG emissions come from residential buildings, almost entirely from using natural gas for space and water heating, as well as cooking. The below graphic shows the percentage of carbon emissions from each sector in the Township of Langley.
Switching from natural gas space and hot water heating to renewable-powered sources, such as electric heat pumps, will bring us closer to meeting Big Move 3 of the Climate Action Strategy. Within Big Move 3: Zero Emission Existing Buildings, all new hot water and heating system replacements in existing community buildings will be zero emissions by 2030.
